a steady climber on the LPGA ladder Lindsey Wright

Once known on tour on her behalf bubbling personality and quick quips delivered with this endearing Aussie accent, Wright had turned quiet, dark and haunted. Knowning that was on her behalf good days. Maybe, she admits to getting contemplated simply ending it all.

That is why Wright's opening-day 5-under-par 67 Thursday with the Kraft Nabisco Championship wasn't just a stellar round of golf. Excess of that, it turned out an excuse to stand up and cheer.

Wright, 32, who played college golf at Pepperdine, grabbed the opening-day spotlight inside the season's initial Callaway Diablo Edge Driver championship and after that used the second to start up her lifetime, bare her soul and introduce her demons "because maybe it can help someone else."

Something was wrong. That much was clear. Wright had broken into tears for no apparent reason during the putting green during the 2010 Women's British Open. Her mother, Linda, had looked her inside the eye and said, "You're not the same person you were five years ago." Wright agreed. She just couldn't determine what or why.

"Yeah, I would say all of it kind of stumbled on a head at the end of 2009," she said. "I stood a great season and after that, it absolutely was type of with a downhill slope, slippery slope. It just sort of happened quickly. You've got bouts, and without stepping into the psychology and everything, it wasn't a good time, i just couldn't really get through it.

"People think depression, 'oh, just defeat it if you're in the negative frame of mind or whatever.' It truly impacts your body, and playing on this tour, coming out and looking to try out, grinding against each other every week when you find yourself not sleeping so you can't concentrate or focus as well as the other symptoms by using it, it really gets you down, and somewhat of a nightmare."

Then one day she was watching morning television. A news talk show was on plus a guest was detailing the symptoms of depression.

"I sat there and thought, 'Oh, my God! That's me,'" Wright said. "That's me."

"When Initially when i first Callaway RAZR Hawk  Driver arrived on the scene here, I became driven in an attempt to make as much money as I could, to experience along with I can, i was pretty intense," she said. "... I believe because you start to get a little older, things change as well as your environment, friends and family change, and I started going home, and I missed home. My best mates were having families and everybody appeared to be maturing i was out here achieving this, which can be nothing wrong. It's a great lifestyle in case you have a healthy balance. To me, it turned out exactly about balance.

"I have not really stood a healthy balance and spent lots of time, 10 months 12 months in the usa as well as months in the home. Looking back, in '09 once i had exceptional season, I will have taken four to five months off then, however didn't."

Along with the darkness started to close in. Another week, another tournament, another night in a accommodation that looked just like the one from the week before. No close friends around.

"There were a good amount of lows," she recalled. "But I think the best is the place you might have insomnia and you're waking up at 2 a.m. with strong emotions and then you have anxiety so that you discount golf clubs don't know your work. There is not any respite from the mind, really, and I mean, the one time I really had any relief is that if you needed probably two bottles of red. It may help you are sleeping, but it's not the best way to combat it.

"That's after i realized I've a problem here, and I have to handle it because I'm getting worse, I'm not really convalescing. ?- So when I did so go to the doctor and obtain an analysis, I realized, geez, I truly do find it difficult here. If only I'd used it sooner."
